Romania’s National Credit Guarantee Fund for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises granted about 15,600 guarantees under the government-backed First Home program in the first half of the year, up 40 percent y-o-y. The total value of guarantees granted in the first half of 2015 reached RON1.3bn.
The mortgage lending program for first-time buyers was mainly accessed by people between the ages of 26 and 35, who preferred buying two-bedroom apartments, according to the most recent statistics.
