A new report from CoreLogic states that the greater Orlando-Kissimmee-Sanford area had the largest share of distressed sales in the country in June at 24.2 percent. Florida had the highest percentage of distressed sales of any state in June (21 percent), followed by Michigan (20.7 percent), Maryland (20.5 percent), Connecticut (19.3 percent) and Illinois (19.1 percent). The state also had the number two area, Miami-Miami Beach-Kendall, Fla. with 22.8 percent and the number three area with Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater coming in at 22.5 percent.
Nationally, distressed sales (real estate-owned and short sales) made up 9.4 percent of total home sales in June, down 2.4 percentage points from June 2014 and down 0.9 percentage points from May 2015. Distressed sales shares typically decrease month over month in June due to seasonal factors, and this June’s numbers were the lowest for the month of June since 2007 when it was 4.9 percent.
