Florida attracted a record number of tourists with an estimated 97.3 million visitors in 2014. That’s an increase of 3.9 percent over 2013 according to information released by Visit Florida, the state’s tourism marketing arm. It marks the fourth consecutive year the state has broken its tourism record. Florida’s Department of Economic Opportunity estimates that of the 9.1 million people currently employed in Florida, 1.1 million have jobs in the tourism industry.Visit Florida claims that 12 percent of all state sales tax revenues are generated by out of state visitors.
