The State for Florida has released the state’s unemployment rate for January which came in at 5 percent, slightly down for the month of December’s 5.1 percent. The January jobless rate represents 492,000 Floridians being out of work from a labor force of 9.76 million. This time last year, the indicator stood at 5.7 percent. The national average currently stands at 4.9 percent. Monroe County, which includes the Florida Keys, led the state with the lowest unemployment rate, at 3.3 percent, followed by St. Johns County (3.8 percent) and Lafayette County (4.3 percent). The highest jobless rates was 8.4 percent in Hendry County.
