Demolition is underway of Wenceslas 47 at the corner of Wenceslas square and Opletalova street in Prague 1, opening the way for the construction of a new mixed-use project by Flow East. To be called Květinový dům, the new building will offer retail and office space across nine floors. The project extends to the the courtyard of the Jalta hotel as well as on the site of the former printing firm on Opletalova street which the developer tore down previously. Flow East acquired Wenceslas 47 in 1994 but was unable to secure approval for its demolition until this year. However, the developer’s plan for the building proved controversial, despite the refusal by the Czech Ministry of Culture to include it on the list of protected building. Investment in the project is expected to run to around CZK 1bn.
