FOM Group leases several office spaces in Maas Tower

6 November 2023

FOM Real Estate Holland B.V. (“FOM Holland”), a wholly owned subsidiary of FOM Real Estate Group, has signed three long-term leases at Maas Tower in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. FOM Group has already been a co-owner of the tallest office tower in the Benelux, at 165 metres, since 2018 and also acts as asset manager of the building, which was completed in 2009.

Svenska Handelsbanken, a Swedish banking house and one of the largest credit institutions in Northern Europe, has signed a very long-term lease. The 735 square metre space is located on the 43rd floor with views over the whole of Rotterdam. Following the recently completed interior fit-out work, the interior of the premises complies with the institution’s ESG and New Work criteria. Furthermore, insurance broker Raetsheren van Orden B.V. (“Raetsheren”) has signed a long-term contract. The company rents 485 square metres of space on the 37th floor of the Maas Tower, here the space has also been equipped in accordance with the company’s ESG and New Work criteria. Green & Black Europe B.V., a shipping agency, has also signed a long-term lease. Their new office space has an area of 255 square metres. All companies mentioned moved in on 1 November 2023.

Prof. Reinhard Walter, Managing Partner of the FOM Group, says: “Since its completion in 2009, the Maas Tower has become a modern landmark in Rotterdam. The three long-term leases once again underline the attractiveness of the location for national and international companies. In line with our Manage-to-ESG approach, we are working on further sustainability measures for the entire building here.”

Matthijs Hoekstra, Managing Director of FOM Holland, says: “After the successful optimisation and refinancing of the Maas Tower, we have taken the next step: for example this includes installation of LED lighting throughout the building. Energy-saving air conditioning systems and the use of water-saving technologies will also lead to a further reduction in consumption throughout the building.”

Andreas Stegmann, Head of Institutional Clients at FOM Group and also Managing Director for the Netherlands, adds: “These lettings are a great success for our still young subsidiary in the Netherlands. We have once again demonstrated our local expertise in this important European market. We also plan to offer investment products from this market to our institutional clients in the future, based on an active value creation strategy.”
