The Czech Highway Authority (RSD) will begin forced sale proceedings to allow it to continue with construction of the D3 motorway near Tabor in Southern Bohemia. This followed the Ministry of Transport’s decision to halt the permitting process for the road in which RSD was seeking a construction permit. The organization has already offered CZK 20m for the 400 meter stretch of land (9,290 sqm in total) but the owners refused to sell. RSD’s director Jan Rydl says the final level of compensation will be determined in court. Under the new regulations governing forced purchases, construction could go ahead before the final price of the land is set. Director Rydl claims invoking the state’s right to build strategic infrastructure is the only option as the owners were employing delaying tactics rather than negotiating constructively.
