Ford beefs up UK capacity at Dagenham

21 October 2014

Ford intends to hire 318 employees to man a new production line at its Dagenham plant that will manufacture low-carbon engines. The plant will be able to produce 500,000 engines annually. The UK government is contributing GBP 8.9m from its regional growth fund for the project. Following a fall in sales, the American carmaker closed its Southampton factory last year and moved production to Turkey. It also closed some of its activities at its Dagenham site. With plans to pump up production at Dagenham, Ford’s UK workforce is expected to once again exceed 14,000.
