Ford Europe has announced a new production shutdown at several plants in Europe as a result of the semiconductor crisis. The shutdown should last a few weeks and overlap with measures to reduce the program.
“We currently estimate 6 days without vehicle production, on April 29, respectively between May 10 and 14, and 10 days without engine production, between April 26 and May 14,” the company said regarding the production at the Ford plant in Craiova, Romania.
In Koln, the production is done part-time between May 3 and June 18, with a break between June 18 and June 30, and then switch back to part-time until July 9, when production stops until August 16. Factories in Saarlouis, Germany, Valencia, Spain, and Kocaeli, Turkey, will also be affected by downtime or part-time work.
The company says it will try to recover lost production as much as possible, prioritizing vehicles already ordered by customers.
