Foreign visits to Romania up 12.8% last year

The number of foreign tourists visiting Romania increased last year, as did the number of Romanian tourists taking trips abroad. According to a release of the Ministry of Tourism, there were 16.9% more Romanian tourists crossing the border last year, along with 12.8% more foreign tourists in the country.
The biggest grouping of tourists came from Italy, Hungary, United Kingdom, Germany, France and the USA. The ministry’s data indicates that the Danube Delta is a favorite location for foreign tourists.
Romanian tourists chose Bucharest as their primary holiday destination, followed by spa resorts, big cities and resorts in the mountains.
