The state-owned Lithuanian railway operator Lietuvos Gelezinkeliai reported a 2.3-percent y-o-y increase in freight traffic in the first three months of 2016. The company handled more than 11.5 million tons of freight during Q1, according to figures released by Statistics Lithuania. International freight traffic dropped fell by 3.7 percent to 8.2 million tons, while domestic volumes grew by 20.6 percent to 3.4 million tons between the three-month period. Lietuvos Gelezinkeliai reported 3.891 million tons of freight in March alone, up 1.2 percent m-o-m and 7.5 percent y-o-y.
