Freight transport volumes drop

2 August 2012

Freight transport figures indicate that Czech economy is going down-hill. Volumes of goods transferred by all types of transport decreased, with road transport showing worst results in four years. Air cargo, which is the most expensive, has dropped the most: the volumes have decreased by one third y-o-y to 2,000 tons. Road cargo dropped by ten percent and railway by seven percent. The economic server E15 quotes the head of CS Cargo Jan Blaško as saying that the volumes of FMCG goods have dropped most markedly, while the automotive industry, has shown good results. Czech Ministry of Finance recently changed its economic forecast from GDP growth to a 0.5 percent decline. David Marek, the Patria Finance analyst, foresees even worse results claiming GDP will drop by 1 percent due to the worsening global economic climate.
