Gatlin Development Co. has landed an $80.5 million construction order for the construction of the first phase of Durbin Park, a mixed-use project in St. Johns. Located 25 miles south of Jacksonville, plans call for a 600,000 square foot build out to house a Walmart and Home Depot as anchors. Upon completion, the 1,700 acre scheme will include two million square feet of retail space and more than two million square feet of office space, plus apartments and a hotel. The Walmart store is scheduled to open in November, with the Home Depot store to follow in spring of 2019. Miami-based Aztec Group arranged an $80.5 million floating rate construction loan with a three-year term on behalf of the developer through City National Bank of Florida.
