An entire apartment building in the German town of Grevenbroich has been placed in lock down after two families with infected members failed to obey orders to self-isolate. A total of 115 health services employees were sent to the highrise building to test all 450 residents in the building. Police fenced off the property over the weekend and security personnel were placed at the building’s entrances. Eight residents in the two apartments were found to have been COVID-19 and were ordered to remain in their homes at all times, but when authorities checked up on the families by telephone, it emerged that they were not following instructions. Reports claim that they were continuing to have contacts with their neighbors, including standing outside the building with them. It’s unclear whether their neighbors ever knew they had tested positive. While the tests for neighbors were not mandatory, 375 of the residents agreed to take them. They will be told whether they can leave the building on Tuesday when the results are given.
