German manufacturer MTU Aero Engines plans to start the construction of the engine repair plant in Serbia this year and finish it in 2023. The factory will be built on 26 hectares of land in the industrial zone of Stara Pazova. The new location near the Belgrade airport will be run by MTU Maintenance Serbia d.o.o., a 100% subsidiary of MTU. The facility was originally expected to be operational during 2022, but its launch was delayed due to a coronavirus pandemic.
In the first phase, they plan to have a capacity for 470,000 hours of repairs per year. The MTU office in Belgrade is now operational, and the project team has defined the plant and process technologies. By 2027, the new repair site is expected to grow to about 440 employees.
