Ghelamco secured PLN 1bn contract from the Polish State Railways (PKP) for the Dworzec Gdański project, beating out five other competitors. Even though this is PKP’s fourth project on the Polish real estate sector, the investor admitted cost was crucial in the winning bid. “[The developer] also presented an innovative concept, which makes it possible for us to maximize the space above the tracks to create a common area,” Piotr Ciżkowicz, a PKP board member, told the daily Puls Biznesu. While it declines to provide any details on projected profits Dworzec Gdański may bring to the company, PKP points out profits for its recent project in Poznań, Poznań City Center, exceeded the value of the land by three times.
