GL Homes wins approval for golf course scheme in Boca Raton

17 November 2017

GL Homes has been given the green light to purchase the Boca Raton Municipal Golf Course by the Boca Raton City Council in a 4-1 vote. The home builder paid $65 million for the 188 acre site at 8111 Golf Course Road. GL Homes plans to build 580 single-family homes on one of the last developable sites of its size in Palm Beach County. The firm still has to seek approval from the Palm Beach County for a land-use plan amendment, rezoning and site plan approval. This process that can take up to 16 months. Deed restrictions on the property will prevent GL Homes from building on up to 16 acres, and the developer will incur the cost of cleaning up contamination left by the golf course.
