The Greater Orlando Aviation Authority has unveiled a new model for the new South Airport Automated People Mover (APM) and Intermodal Transportation Facility. The $1.1 billion project is expected to increase the airport’s capacity to 40 million passengers. The works involves upgrading and expanding the airport’s ticketing and baggage areas. Also included is the $426 million APM expansion, parking grage and an intermodal facility, which will be the final station for the planned $2.2 billion All Aboard Florida intercity passenger rail from South Florida. There are 450 contracting and subcontracting firms currently working in the airports various projects.
