Google Cloud is observing that most Polish banks are starting to prepare for the implementation and wide use of cloud solutions, Magdalena Dziewguć, business director of Google Cloud in Poland informed ISBtech.

“The opening of financial institutions to migration to the cloud is clear. We can see that most Polish banks are starting to prepare their ecosystem for the extensive use of cloud technologies. According to my knowledge, as Google, we are the only hyperscale cloud operator that meets the high requirements of Polish industry regulations in terms of security,” said ISBtech Dziewguć.

The Google Cloud region in Warsaw has been operating since April, offering data processing infrastructure as part of the company’s global network that provides access to cloud computing services to companies and institutions. It is to help Polish enterprises in digital transformation and accelerate the implementation of cloud technologies in the economy. It is the first infrastructure of this type of a global provider of public cloud services not only in Poland, but also in the entire Central and Eastern Europe. The Warsaw region of Google Cloud is the 25th such center in the world and the only one that the company opened in Europe this year.

“For banks, the telco and energy industries, the cloud is a breakthrough in terms of scalability, computing power, data analysis, but also security. So far, the challenges related to the so-called data residency, i.e. a place where sensitive data are stored, have been an obstacle in adopting the cloud. our infrastructure in Warsaw and the announced full certification of the Google Cloud region for SAP S / 4HANA Cloud, private edition, we can offer services that help customers meet these regulatory requirements and eliminate legal and regulatory risks,” emphasized Dziewguć.

As she pointed out, the green transformation in the energy sector requires the implementation of advanced analytical platforms.

“I also hope that Google Cloud will help Polish companies in their international expansion. One of the most interestingly developing sectors of the Polish economy is food production. Better use of e-commerce, analytics and artificial intelligence channels by these companies for e.g. price prediction will allow them to grow rapidly,” added the director.

As part of building the offering, Google Cloud and SAP announced an enhanced strategic partnership to help customers drive business transformations and migrate critical systems to the cloud. The collaboration will also allow the use of Google Cloud’s capabilities in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML). Additionally, the companies announced that the Google Cloud region in Warsaw was certified for SAP S / 4HANA Cloud, private edition. From now on, all companies that choose the Google cloud to run the SAP S / 4HANA Cloud, private edition system can store their data and applications in the cloud region created by Google Cloud in the capital of Poland.

“Further such partnerships are a matter of time. We see a lot of international software companies installing in the Warsaw region of Google Cloud. This is an opportunity to offer their SaaS solutions from here. Take full advantage of the benefits of the public cloud, and process data locally,” pointed out Dziewguć.

She also added that Google is constantly recruiting in all departments, in the cloud technology engineering center in Warsaw, but also in cloud support teams and advertising products.

“We also want to develop the competences of Polish engineers, which are attractive to international clients. The higher the competences of Polish IT specialists, the more interesting contracts. We promote retraining for e.g. data engineering, because there are no such specialists and specialists, with good availability of those from infrastructure. Forecasting models, production planning, IoT – these are future-oriented areas of specialization,” summed up the business director of Google Cloud in Poland.
