Slovenian manufacturer Gorenje appliances is considering opening a factory in Romania. According to marketing director of the local branch, Andreea Gheorghe, any investment must be supported by the government and so far no decision has been taken by them in this regard.
She didn’t say how much Gorenje would be invested in the facility. Currently, the electronics maker has factories in Slovenia and Serbia, though 95 percent of production takes place in Slovenia. In Serbia, it produces boilers and iceboxes.
Gorenje Romania had a turnover of around €12m last year and the company’s management estimates similar amounts in 2012. Around 80 percent of the turnover of Gorenje in Romania is represented by sales of large appliances.
