Hungarian government accepts EC recommendations

9 March 2012

The Hungarian government has discussed and approved the European Commission’s recommendations regarding a dispute over the Hungarian central bank. György Matolcsy, the Ministry of Economy, told the head of the European Central Bank in a letter that the government will not have direct influence on the bank. The government will have the new constitution revised to this effect, and will not have the fusion of the Central Bank and the Hungarian Financial Supervisory Authority go ahead.
