Government sees financial rewards in new radar system

17 January 2013

The government is estimating the country’s new radar speed control system will cushion the budget with an extra PLN 1.5bn this year, but lawmakers are hoping to squeeze even more money from the project. One of the companies providing equipment to the new system is the state-owned Zurad, subsidiary of Bumar Electronics.
“So far, Zurad sold 300 stationary radars and had recently won the contract for another 100,” the head of Bumar Electronics, Ryszard Kardasz, told the daily Puls Biznesu. The new radar network is expected to cost PLN 188m, PLN 103m of which will come from the Centre for EU Transport Projects.
