GreenFiber International, part of Green Group, is investing €35m in a new production facility in Urziceni, 60 km east of Bucharest. The factory will go up on the former ROFEP industrial site, which was acquired by GreenFiber. With a production capacity of 30,000 tons of synthetic fiber per year, the new factory should be operational by the first quarter of 2017.
“Even if demand for fiber from our customers was increasing, opening the new unit was only possible as a result of previous investments with the purpose to improve superior flows of supply,” said Clement Hung, CEO of Green Group. “During the period 2013-2015, we invested €23m, part of the money going towards the creation of a functional collection infrastructure to increase the volume of clean and free PET waste.” GreenFiber opened its first Romanian factory in 2005 in Buzau, followed in 2007 by a factory in Iasi.
