The Portuguese Groundforce baggage handling company will keep most of its staff in furlough until June 1. There haven’t been enough flights restored to normal timetables to bring back the entire group during May, since the volume of work is currently just 5 percent of normal.
Just 800 flights are scheduled for the month, making it necessary to conserve resources. In the meantime, operations managers have seen their schedules reduced by 20 percent as have company directors. Executive administrators, on the other hand, have voluntarily accepted a 30 percent wage cut.
