GTC secured nearly 164,0000 sqm in office and retail lease deals in the CEE region last year, a 31-percent increase from 2012. Of that total, 44,900 sqm comprise leases signed in Poland, a 27-percent increase year-on-year. This means that Poland remains GTC’s key focus in the CEE region, followed by Hungary. The company signed a total of 35,500 sqm in leases in Hungary last year, most of which were extensions. Romania came in third, with 28,800 sqm in office and retail space leases.
“We see 2013 as crucial for the company, with a total of 160,000 sqm of new leases secured in the period,” said Alain Ickovics, CEO of GTC, adding that despite the current pressure on lower rents, the company successfully responded to the challenging tenant market.
