Consumer inflation was 16.6% on an annualized basis in December 2022, according to a quick estimate of the data, the Central Statistical Office (GUS) reported. Compared to the previous month, consumer prices rose by 0.2%, the GUS also reported.
The prices of consumer goods and services according to the quick estimate in December 2022, compared to the same month last year, increased by 16.6% (price index 116.6), and compared to the previous month, increased by 0.2% (price index 100.2).
The prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages increased by 21.5% y/y, energy carriers – rose by 31.2% y/y, fuel for private transportation increased by 13.5% y/y.
On a monthly basis, prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages increased by 1.4%, energy carriers fell by 3.3%, while fuels for private means of transportation decreased by 1.6%, GUS stated.
The market consensus was 17.3% y/y.
