The number of flats for which permits were issued or notifications were made with a construction project increased in January this year by 34.1% y/y to 20 530, and in monthly terms decreased by 6.8%, the Central Statistical Office (GUS) reported.
Investors building for sale or renting last month obtained 14,632 permits (an increase of 42.2% y/y and a decrease of 7.5% m/m), the Central Statistical Office (GUS) also reported.
“In January 2024, permits were issued or a construction report of 20.5 thousand apartments was filed, i.e. 34.1% more than a year earlier. Developers (14,600, increase by 42.2% y/y) and individual investors (5.3 thousand, an increase of 11.5%) received the building permits for the largest number of apartments. In total, under these forms of construction, permits were obtained or a construction project was notified with a construction project for 97.3% of the total number of flats. In other forms of construction, there were 0.6 thousand flats for which permits were issued or notifications were made with a construction project (in January last year, 0.2 thousand).
The number of apartments whose construction began in January this year increased by 66.4% y/y and amounted to 15,720, and in monthly terms increased by 9.3%, according to the Central Statistical Office (GUS).
The group of developers recorded an increase in the number of dwellings, the construction of which began – by 107.2% y/y to 12,051 units, and in monthly terms there was an increase of 8.1%, the Office also reported.
“In January 2024, the construction of 15,700 apartments began, i.e. 66.4% more than a year ago. Developers started the construction of 12,100 apartments (by 107.2% more), and individual investors 3.5 thousand (by 0.8% less). In total, the share of these forms of construction amounted to 99.1% of the total number of apartments. In other forms of construction, the construction of 0.1 thousand apartments (i.e. almost double the number of apartments) began to be built (i.e. almost double that in January 2023).
It is estimated that at the end of January 2024, 802.8 thousand apartments remained under construction, i.e. 2.5% less than in the same month of 2023, the Office also reported.
