As much as 50 percent of world’s top brands have lost their value in 2012, with the decrease comparable to the one that took place in 2009, during the darkest chapter of economic crisis. A full 35 of 49 brands lost value, according to data collected by Millword Brown firm in its 2012 BrandZ Top 100 report. The top ten positions on the list were occupied by IT companies, with Apple coming first. The USD 183bn that company was estimated to be currently worth is just 19 percent hike from last year. The biggest jump belonged to Facebook, whose IPO took place last week. The company jumped up by 16 spots to take 19th place, and its value rose 74 percent over the past year to USD 33.2bn.
