Halfacre Construction Co. has been awarded multiple projects at Punta Gorda Airport totaling $1.955 million. The projects include reconstructing the long-term lot, the cell phone parking lot along with adding new pay stations. Roughly 500 parking spaces are being added to the two lots. Punta Gorda Airport has carried more than 972,000 passengers in the past 12 months and is on track to break the one million-passenger mark for the first time this year. The construction is expected to be completed by the end of fall 2016. “Punta Gorda is one of the fastest growing airports in the country,” says Gary Quill, executive director of the Charlotte County Airport Authority, in the statement. “Due to its increasing popularity, we draw passengers from Marco Island to Sarasota. These updates will result in a much more efficient layout than we have ever had.”
