Orlando-based Hard Rock International in collaboration with Trockland Development Group has announced plans to open its first hotel in Germany, the Hard Rock Hotel Berlin Checkpoint Charlie. Slated to open in 2020, the new project will be located adjacent to the Cold War icon Checkpoint Charlie. The Hard Rock will be part of a larger mixed use development by Trockland that will include retail space, office, residences and a curated exhibition space commemorating the history and symbolism of Checkpoint Charlie and the Berlin Wall. The scheme will be built on land that was once part of the Berlin Wall. “The location at Checkpoint Charlie — where East met West — is symbolic of much that is right in the world and aligns well with the values and visions of our brand,” said Hamish Dodds, CEO of Hard Rock International.
