Harrachov has doubled rents in city apartments to CZK 65 per square meter. As a reason, it states that the rent collected is not enough to repair the buildings. However, the new prices will apply only to new tenants, for the current ones the rent will increase gradually. City Hall spokeswoman Hana Veselá.
There are 98 flats in the well-known Krkonoše city center. The amount of rent was not increased by the town hall for a long time and it was one of the lowest in the region. While in other towns and villages in the Tanvald region last year the tenants paid the town hall per square meter from 21 to 70 crowns, in Harrachov the basic price was from 31 to 35.5 CZK. Only the inhabitants of the nursing home, which was created last year by rebuilding the former vocational school for 30 million crowns, paid more. There, tenants pay 61.1 crowns per square meter. Based on the April decision of the council, the basic rate for other city flats rose to 65 crowns per square meter. Teachers, firefighters, police officers and doctors will have a discount, and tenants who will repair the apartment themselves will also pay less.
“The basic idea for setting rental prices in Harrachov is the fact that the regulated rent in apartments for special purposes for the elderly is 61.1 crowns per square meter and a working person of working age pays only half of this amount. That did not seem right to us, and we decided therefore increase the price, “said Deputy Mayor Tomáš Vašíček (SNK – Change for Harrachov).
The town hall wants to use the money collected from the rent to repair houses. So far, it collects only about three million a year, which is not enough to repair the roof of houses 462 and 463 in the New World. According to the report, the city should not postpone the repair for a long time, otherwise it will have to evict the tenants from the eight flats of the superstructure. Its wooden parts are infested with a wood-destroying fungus, and there is a risk of the trusses collapsing. The cost of repairing the roof of the town hall is estimated at six million crowns. The town hall doesn’t have the money for it in the budget yet, she applied for a state subsidy.
Harrachov, together with Rokytnice nad Jizerou, is one of the largest resorts in the Krkonoše Region in the Liberec Region. This year, it will manage CZK 48 million. Since this year, the stay in it has become more expensive for residents, property owners and visitors. The town hall doubled the property tax, increased the residence tax from 21 to 30 crowns per night and the annual waste fee from 600 to 900 crowns. Permanently reported residents have a discount of 400 crowns, in the past they were exempt from this payment.
