The Prague Airport has seen a 7 percent drop in passenger numbers over the first four months of 2012, y-o-y. Since the beginning of the year, 2.9 million people have passed through the facility, a trend the airport’s management expects to continue for the rest of 2012. Continued flight reductions by Czech Airlines is the main cause. Low-cost airlines, such as Travel Service and Wizz Air have likewise lost 12 percent of the passengers. Passenger numbers in charter flights have dropped 23 percent to just 175,000 travelers. International carriers, on the other hand, have strengthened by 20 percent, with Air France, British Airways, Finnair, Swiss, Austrian Airlines and Emirates at the top of the ladder. The Czech numbers are bucking the global trend, as European air travel has increased by six percent, and the Near East scored 16 percent.
