Heathrow’s Third Runway Project Delayed

1 July 2016

The UK government has delayed the planned extension at Heathrow airport following the resignation of Conservative party leader David Cameron. The controversial plans to create a GBP 17.6 billion third runway were supposed to be made official on July 7th but the project will be reconsidered once a new party leader is selected. Critics of the plan just as Boris Johnson warned the runway would increase noise pollution in West London. It is expected that the government will make an official decision by autumn this year.
