The planned expansion of the international departures terminal at Henri Coanda International Airport – Otopeni will double its capacity.
The work will end in August, say representatives of the Ministry of Transport. After opening the new terminal “Finger” last year, a new terminal for international departures and flights from the Schengen area will follow. Work on the terminal will end in August.
The necessity of the investment has been heightened ever since the airport took on the low-cost flights that once flew into Baneasa airport.
The new terminal will have 19,600 sqm, 52 check-in counters and eight gates for domestic departures and arrivals, all at a cost of €62m. It will be able to handle 2,250 passengers per hour at its peak.
