Herman Van Rompuy has been reelected president of European Council by European leaders yesterday to hold his position for a second 2-5 year term. Poland supported Van Rompuy, according to Mikołaj Dowgielewicz, Polish Minister for European Affairs. During his term in office Van Rompuy will also chair Euro summit meeting. “It’s a privilege to serve Europe in such decisive times. It’s also a big responsibility,” Van Rompuy wrote on his Twitter account, according to Rzeczpospolita daily. Dowgielewicz is satisfied with the result of the vote as he considers Van Rompuy a president who understands Polish arguments and cares about the European community.
