Historic villas seeking high rents in Bucharest

10 July 2012

Owners of villas built built between 1918-1939 collect rents of up to €25,000 per month, according to a study made by representatives of Wall Street.ro.

A 20-room villa built in 1920 on Dacia Boulevard is on the market for that amount, supported by fact that it has a usable area of 1,800 sqm, 10 bathrooms, 15 parking spaces in the courtyard along with a basement, cellar and fireplace.

This isn’t merely an exception, points out the website, which cites another villa on Victoria Square that’s also seeking €25,000 plus VAT, even though it has “only” 15 rooms and three bathrooms in its 480 sqm.

For a bit of perspective, a 17-room villa built in 1919 on Kiseleff Boulevard can be had for €12,000 per month. In its favor are an 11m dome, original stained glass windows, marble staircase decorated with stucco, Venetian mosaic floors, and paintings in oil on ceilings and walls.
