Hochtief won a €132m order to build a tunnel for the Gemeinschaftskraftwerk Inn power plant in Austria. The 22 km tunnel will run underground from the reservoir in Ovella to the plant in Prutz. Scheduled for completion in mid-2018, the tunnel will help generate renewable energy for more than 100,000 homes, the company said in a statement.
“We are happy to have won another large-scale contract in the Austrian market. This underscores our competence in the construction of sustainable energy infrastructure in Europe,” said Wilfried Rammler, the general manager at Hochtief Infrastructure. The power plant is owned by Verbund, Engadiner Kraftwerke and Tiroler Wasserkraft.
