According to the Housing Market Index, a survey of National Association of Home Builders’ members, home builder confidence in the housing market has reached a 10-year high. The index was up three points to 64, continuing five months of improvement. The survey gauges builders’ perceptions of current sales, expectations for sales in the next six months, and traffic from perspective buyers. The survey shows that builders in the west were the most confident about the housing market, followed by the South, Midwest and Northeast.
“Our industry is strengthening at a gradual but consistent pace,” said NAHB Chief Economist David Crowe. “With firm job creation, economic growth and the release of pent-up demand, we expect housing to keep moving forward as we start to close out 2015.”
