Homeport, a Czech-based bikesharing business that’s active in 18 countries, plans to launch its business in Prague with an offer of 1,000 bikes, including 500 electro-bikes. Its founder, Charles Butler, who is co-founded Datart, will take part in the bikesharing tender that will be held by the City of Prague before the end of the year. Homeport started bikesharing in 2005 and is active in the UK, France, Poland and Saudi Arabia. Homeport will compete against Rekola, which plans to only rent 300 standard bikes. Butler told Hospodářské noviny that due to the hilly character of the city, electro-bikes are the best solution for Prague citizens. The US-based Social Bicycles wants to take part in the bid as well, with an offer of 600 bikes.
