Since entering the Romanian market five years, ago, the German DIY retailer Hornbach has invested €145m to open four stores and its local headquarters, and another €3.3m in employee training programs. Company representatives announced recently as well that the company has begun work on its fifth store which is due to open this summer in Timisoara. The outlet will have a sales are of 22,500 sqm and represents a €30m investment.
Hornbach says its sales increased in 2011 compared to the year before, despite the fact that the local market remains very competitive. The company posted turnover of about €71m in 2010, according to data from the Ministry of Finance.
