BZ Group has halted construction on a mixed-use scheme called Horse in Poprad, Slovakia. The project has already been postponed a few times and now it looks like the developer has put it on hold as a result of a competitive market. The announcement confirms expectations that Multi Development’s 22,000 sqm shopping center project Forum would win the battle for this town in central Slovakia. Multi reported 72 percent occupancy already last summer. Kriváň (1,800 sqm) is another shopping opportunity planned to open shortly. Andrej Slezko of BZ Group told Trend Reality that there is not space for three shopping projects in Poprad. Horse would have offered 20,000 sqm of shopping, together with office, hotel and flats, and cost €36m. With financing secured from Tatra banka, the developer got only as far as the the skeleton of the complex.
