Record summer temperatures in June and July have reduced the number of apartment sales in Tallinn, according to Peep Sooman of real estate company Pindi Kinnisvara. He claims that the prolonged hot spell changed buyer behavior, saying that “on a hot day they would rather think about where to get an ice cream or a cold beer, with big decisions and purchases postponed until a colder period.” So far this year, 2,100 apartments have been sold in Tallinn and Harju county. Although sales of expensive apartments in the city center have slowed, there has been a lot of interest in the outskirts of the city. At the end of July 2,668 apartments were on the market, with 122 new apartment projects in progress. The current average sales price in Tallinn is €2,525 per sqm.
