The FeelViana hotel in Viana do Castelo will be opened in April 2017 following a €5m investment. Nearly €3.4m of the total is being covered by European Union funds, as the project will create 27 direct jobs. The hotel sits on a 4,800 sqm plot, where work has already gotten underway on the facility, which will be devoted to water sports, to take advantage of the hotel’s position at the mouth of the river Lima on the Atlantic. The 4-star hotel’s construction is being carried out with environmentally friendly materials, according to architect Carlos Castanheira. He says the hotel will be built with “wood, some glass and some copper” and that it will fit right into its natural surroundings, covering just 28 percent of the plot. It will feature 46 rooms and 9 bungalows.
