A record 5.02 million guests check in at Slovak hotels in 2016. The volume broke the 2015 benchmark, up by approximately 16 percent y-o-y, according to data compiled by the Statistical Office SR. Domestic visitors amounted to 60 percent of the total, while 2.03 million guests came from outside Slovakia, up 17.8 percent y-o-y. The strongest group of those were Czech tourists, with 621,500 booking Slovak hotels last year (up 21.9 percent y-o-y). Safety is among the top reasons why people spend vacation in Slovakia, according to the Statistical Office SR.
