Housing prices across Croatia are on the rise, with properties along the coast jumping by 20 percent, according to local news reports. Subsidized housing loans for young people, lack of new supply and an increase in construction and labor costs have contributed to the rise in housing prices. The cities with the highest prices per sqm include Zagreb, Dubrovnik, Split and Opatija, while the lowest prices were reported in Vukovar, Sisak and Slavonski Brod. “Prices will definitely continue to grow regardless of speculation, because there are plenty of new buildings,” said Frano Bezic, the director of Real Estate Dubrovnik. The 80 percent of buyers are Croatians.
