Hradec Králové finally acquired half the land the Road and Motorway Directorate (ŘSD) needs in order to complete the last section of the D11 motorway that runs by the city. Work on the D11 halted in 2006, forcing drivers to exit the motorway at the Opatovice crossing or the temporary exit at Libišany.
The plot of land was owned by sisters Jaroslava Štrosová and Ludmila Havránková. While Štrossová sold her 0.27 ha half to the city for CZK 1.7m, authorities are still negotiating with Havránková. Once Havránková agrees to sale conditions, the City of Hradec Králové will then exchange the plot with ŘSD for land under the city’s bus station. Construction on the last section of the D11 motorway on the outskirts of Hradec Králové resumed on July 22. The 2.5km long section, worth CZK 1.1bn, is scheduled for completion in August 2017.
