The city of Tampa has selected a New Orleans-based developer, HRI Properties, as the winner of a tender to buy and develop a one-acre site on E. Kennedy Blvd that has served as a city controlled surface parking lot until now. The firm, which paid $7.5 million for the land, will build a 21 story mixed use building on the location. The scheme will house 225 residential units, a 223-room Hyatt Centric Hotel, 7,000 sqf of commercial and retail space and a 408-car garage. The hotel would occupy floors six through 11 and will include 9,600 sqf of meeting space, a 22,000 sqf rooftop pool, cabana, fitness center and poolside bar. The residential units will occupy floors 12 through 21, while the first five floors to be taken up by the parking garage.
“The city received very attractive proposals from three very qualified teams and after careful analysis, HRI’s proposal offered exactly what the City of Tampa was looking for,” said Mayor Bob Buckhorn. “HRI offered not only a vision that would add to Tampa’s burgeoning downtown but also offered an attractive purchase price, density and innovative design.”
