Huawei to build Hungary’s 4th mobile network

11 September 2015

The state-owned MVM Net is expected to sign a contract with Chinese telecommunications and networking company Huawei to establish Hungaryʼs fourth mobile network. The cost of the deal is HUF 12.8bn. MVM said it was not required to call a tender for the contract, which involves building the 450MHz network. Acquired by MVM last spring, the network currently controls 30 percent of the Hungarian mobile market and is currently being used to test a handful of government applications.
