Hudson Yards slaughterhouse site in NYC slated for mixed-use development

12 May 2017

The New York City Economic Development Corp. and the New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development have revealed plans to convert a former slaughterhouse site adjacent to Hudson Yards into a mixed-use development. Radson Development, in a joint venture with Kingspoint Heights Development, will develop the 234-unit affordable housing scheme. Also included in the plans are 200,000 sqf of commercial office space and more than 88,000 sqf of dormitory space. Located at 495 11th Ave., the 24,687 sqf site is immediately west of the Hudson Yards Special District, which now has $16 billion in private capital commitments. This includes the construction of 20 million sqf of office space and major public infrastructure improvements such as the number 7 Subway Extension and Hudson Park and Boulevard. Following the demolition of the 1905-built slaughterhouse, the site has been used as NYPD parking.
