HUF 3bn worth of reconstruction in Eger’s historic center

The city center of the Hungarian town of Eger is undergoing major reconstruction work as part of a HUF 5bn investment. The government would like to strengthen the historical features and importance of the city through the reconstruction. The project consists of 25 elements, including the development of infrastructure, the construction of public squares, the establishment of bicycle routes and public works. The project has already started, and is planned to be ready by 2013, with substantial financing (over HUF 5bn) provided by the New Széchenyi Plan.
